Official opening of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Paphos
The newest addition to Paphos, Kings Avenue Mall – the largest and most contemporary mall of Cyprus – officially launched its operation on Saturday, 14 December 2013, with the official opening ceremony.
The event was honoured by the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis, who performed the opening ceremony, while Archbishop Chrysostomos officiated the holy blessing ceremony. The Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Savvas Vergas, also gave an address. The event was attended, among others, by various governmental officials, politicians and local dignitaries, as well as representatives of the business world of Cyprus.
In his speech, Mr. Theodoros Aristodimou, who gave an address on behalf of the owners, said the cost of Kings Avenue Mall exceeded €170 million and it will provide a boost to the economy of Paphos, since, in addition to being a consumer’s oasis offering countless choices for entertainment and shopping, meeting all needs and tastes, this mall, which covers 82 thousand square meters, will offer jobs to more than 1,000 employees, providing much needed relief to the island’s work force. Moreover, Kings Avenue Mall will enrich and upgrade the tourism product offered by Cyprus, and Paphos in particular.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Athiari Commercial (Paphos) Ltd, which developed Kings Avenue Mall, Mr. Panagiotis Athiainitis gave an address in English, thus honouring English-speaking guests, while Mr. Sozos Houliotis offered commemorative gifts to the President and the Archbishop to thank them for the honour of their presence.
