The popularity of thermostats continues to grow unabated as consumers increasingly appreciate the added comfort, safety and savings offered by thermostatic mixers. In response to the growing fondness of this product, GROHE has overhauled its range of entry-level thermostats, thereby taking the concept of a basic thermostat to a new level. The new entry-level range is led by the Grohtherm 1000. First introduced back in 1995, this model has since benefited from regular improvements and this latest incarnation is without a doubt the best Grohtherm 1000 to date. It is flanked by the Grohtherm 800 with its compelling value proposition and the modern Grohtherm 1000 Cosmopolitan M now sporting solid metal handles.
Best in class
Looking back on 20 years of steady evolution, the Grohtherm 1000 is packed with advanced technology and offers optimum functionality. Its organically flowing lines blend smoothly into all modern bathroom decors and coordinate perfectly with numerous GROHE washbasin faucets and showers. Despite its diameter of only 43 millimetres, its slim body is all about stability and safety, incorporating as it does the proprietary GROHE CoolTouch® technology. A newly developed insulating ring keeps the hot water away from the thermostat body, thereby preventing its surface from heating up. In addition, the thermostatic cartridge has been shifted towards the left, thereby shortening the hot water channel within the unit and ruling out the risk of scalding on the chrome surface.
On the wings of fresh design ideas
The highlights of the new product clearly include the screw fixed handles made of solid metal, which not only enhance its look and feel but also allow confident operation even with wet and soapy hands. This is ensured by a set of ergonomically shaped, easy-to-grip winglets. The temperature control handle features a SafeStop button, which the user needs to press in order to turn the water temperature up to more than 38 degrees Celsius. This button protects children and elderly people, in particular, from inadvertently turning up the temperature and then getting scalded. Intuitive use of the controls is also aided by the self-explanatory symbols.
The Grohtherm 1000 also boasts a number of improvements in terms of its sustainability credentials. Its volume control handle is equipped with an EcoButton, which allows to reduce the consumption of shower water by up to 50 percent. The volume control handle of the bath thermostat features the AquadimmerEco mechanism for smooth and economical switching between bath filling and showering mode. Most importantly, the Grohtherm 1000 features the unique GROHE TurboStat® technology, which allows the water temperature to be adjusted accurately and instantly without wasting water while searching for your preferred temperature setting. Once the temperature is set, the thermostat will maintain it reliably for the entire duration of the shower by balancing out any pressure fluctuations in the water pipes without the user even noticing it.
Versions for concealed installation now available
The complete Grohtherm 1000 range is available for concealed installation, for bathtub and shower installation as well as for use as a central thermostat and shut-off valve. These products, too, feature solid metal handles. Add to this the SafeStop Button and the EcoButton on the shower and bath versions with the latter also having the AquaDimmer function. The QuickFix design of the chrome-plated rosettes allows for a quick and easy installation. The concealed shower and bath thermostats are best installed using the GROHE Rapido T universal body, which is designed for a safe and straightforward installation process.

An exciting alternative for public and commercial projects comes in the form of the Grohtherm 800, an entry-level model packed with numerous value-added functions and features. Apart from its attractive price, the Grohtherm 800 scores big points with GROHE TurboStat® technology, sustainable GROHE EcoJoy® technology, the GROHE SafeStop button, EasyLogic user guidance and its ergonomic winglet handles. With its pared down design, flowing lines and slender body measuring only 40 millimetres in diameter, it easily coordinates with numerous different decors, offering architects and planners great freedom in designing modern bathrooms.
For a more powerful design statement, choose Grohtherm 1000 Cosmopolitan M. While retaining its popular minimalist shape, this thermostat now comes with high-quality metal handles featuring a subtle rim for confident, non-slip operation – a small but welcome improvement for added comfort in day-to-day use.
