According to Cyprus Tourism Organisation, in 2014 the island of Aphrodite will be visited by about 800 k Russian tourists, which is 20-25 % higher than numbers of current year.
Due to the active promotional campaigns of Mediterranean island as a destination for holidays throughout the year, Russian tourists are increasingly choosing Cyprus as a vacation spot, and many even for permanent residence. And this tendency continues to grow.
In connection with the open airspace agreement between Cyprus and Russia, which resulted in the absence of restrictions on flights from Russia in the winter period, the seasonality of Russian tourists coming to Cyprus for vacation will become more smooth.
Noticeable increase of Russians visiting Cyprus for the Christmas holidays, as well as during March and April compared to previous years can be already expected starting from this year.
Russia currently ranks second in the list of countries with the highest number of tourists visiting Cyprus, coming after the United Kingdom.
