Model Kasia Kay a “one of a kind woman” is staging a fashion industry takeover on and off the island. Blonde, buxom, and beautiful, with her it feels like you are in a 007 movie with one of James Bond’ s iconic ‘bond’ girls, but it doesn’t’ t stop there, traffic stopping legs, and stunning eyes. We recently had the opportunity to speak with Kasia where she reveals what has been evolving in her life so far as a model and her thoughts on body image and her particularly may I say; “uniquely odd” guilty pleasure. We will also be seeing Kasia work her talents in our August Issue’s photoshoot. Read the Exclusive Interview with the evermore alluring model Kasia Kay:
Name: Kasia Kay (used in modeling)
Nationality: Polish
Age: 26
Home Town: Bytom, Poland
Agency: ZONE Models in London
SJ: So Kasia who did you look up to when you were starting out, what made you want to start modeling? Do you have a favorite model?
K.K: It all started when I was 15 years old and decided to go for a meal at McDonald’s. I was approached by a photographer when I was enjoying my burger and it just all went from there. I never even thought about modeling before that. I was studying at a Music School in Bytom and wanted to be a violinist. When I graduated I started traveling and started working as a model full time, while doing my Bachelor Degree in Illustration. Then I moved to London where my career really blossomed and passion for the industry evolved the most. I always admired Kate Moss, she’s a legend! Recently my favorite model is Cara Delavigne, she’s doing great and she seems like a lovely and genuine person too.
SJ: Well Kasia I can say that your not far yourself from in reaching the likes’ of the great ‘Moss’ that most of us have grown up page turning magazines and seeing Kate Moss in most every designer’ s campaign with her in well; mostly nearly all of them! What is the best advice you have ever been given that got you this far ?
K.K: If you can’t find a good role model, become one yourself!
SJ: Yes I agree there isn’t really going to be someone you can count on but yourself, because you are already expected to know what you are doing and how your doing it, that advise is so true! So you are your own person and it is sometimes a little stressful maybe to tackle everything at once lets say you’re on the job and someone is also mentally stressing you out at the same time and it gets difficult on keeping your calm hence what would you say the difficult side of modeling is? Do you personally have any particular fears?
K.K: The most difficult part of this job is being judged based on looks all the time and sometimes it can really bring you down. Sometimes designer says you’re too chubby, too thin; or they don’t like your skin tone or your hair style. The list goes on and on. You have to build a wall around yourself and not let it get to you, continue loving yourself for who you are and concentrate on positives.
My particular fear? I have a huge fear of flying and unfortunately for me, travelling on a plane is a huge part of a job…haha!
SJ: Today it is easier to get criticized on being too thin than overweight there is more underweight issues being discussed in the media than overweight issues, it is a fragile subject but the more people express their opinion on the subject the better, especially if it is by models that as part of their job is to stay healthy and have to maintain a certain image which of course is calculated by their height and weight ect, what’s your best advice to young girls on body image?
K.K: In our times body image is one of the biggest issues and I am an active member in a fight against body shaming. My advice to young girls: love yourselves for who you are, because you are beautiful the way you are, in all shapes and sizes! Never let your life decisions be directed by the way you think you look/or could look like.
SJ: If there was a natural disaster what is the one piece of clothing you couldn’t live without?
K.K: Definitely my skinny jeans and my leather jacket! You can’t go wrong with those!
SJ: Fashion is an ever changing fixation do you have a favorite designer whose creations have always stayed with you?
K.K: At the moment it’s Elie Saab. His every dress takes my breath away, they are all beautiful and almost magical!
SJ: Lets get a little more nosy as my curiosity has another life of itself for instance in my purse you can find everything from a plug socket to a one year old empty bottle of perfume! But lets not have to list everything from your side so I’ l make it simpler for you, what are three items you always keep in your purse?
K.K: Oh, my purse contains my whole life, haha! But three main things are: my sketchbook, my phone and my perfume.
SJ: Everyone has their own pleasing and sometimes ‘odd’ pleasures, what is your guilty pleasure?
K.K: Oh I picked it up very recently. I love to watch bad movies! The worse it is, the better. It really is a lot of fun.
SJ: If I could guess I would say an actress. Tell me though what would you have most probably be doing if you were not a model?
K.K: I would be a film producer, IronMan or a ghost hunter, haha!
SJ: Finally Kasia as hard as it may be to end this very delightful interview with you, describe yourself in three words?
K.K: Ambitious, goofy and optimistic!
A very special and big thank you to model Kasia Kay for taking time to do this interview with us at Moiostrov Magazine, Kasia Kay a model whom will be the leading lady in everything she does as a model and as a person, she has the ability to win an Oscar award from everyone’s heart, a sweet beauty that has achieved a lot and will still continue to do so.
