Hidden behind jewelled masks, the models walked down the runway with two very different concepts to the new Couture collection of Maison Martin Margiela for this Fall 2013-2014. Firstly there were the aesthetics based on ‘street wear’ hence more of a casual and laid back look an everyday wear made from t-shirt and latex jeans, the second concept was more extravagant, glitzy and delicate with noticeable echoes of the East.
Maison Martin Margiela creative team started the collection by recovering vintage clothing with a result the reassembling and transforming the materials into a ‘one of a kind’ dress, use of marble gemstones or curtains dating back to the 20s and a stage costume dated 1930 transformed into an elegant coat. A very fresh and visionary approach by Maison Martin Margiela.
