Today we will share with you some information regarding fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Please, keep in mind that what follows is not just friendly advice, but the law. All shops in the country must comply with the following rules. When in an organic shop, any organic fresh product must have the following information:
– Detailed description. For example: “Granny Smith apples”, not just apples.
– Price which includes V.A.T.
– The indication “BIO” if the product is organic, or “Transition Stage” if the necessary time needed for the transition from conventional to organic farming (two to three years) is not reached.
– The name of the supplier or producer.
– The name of the company that certifies the supplier or the producer.
– The indication whether the product is of European origin or from any other non-EU country.
– The Organic certification of the store, which must be available to the customer upon request.
– The Organic certification of the suppliers or producers, which must be available to the customer upon request.
Important Note: If a shop is an organic one, then it is entitled to sell fresh fruit and vegetables in bulk. Any other store is NOT allowed to sell fresh organic fruits and vegetables in bulk, and only packaged fresh organic products are allowed.
