During the Cyprus Fashion Days I was fortunate to meet one of the island’ s up and coming stylists Jean Ivy Pozidis of which has agreed to the below exclusive interview:
SJ : So Jean what made you want to become a stylist?
JI: Well i have diploma in interior design and diploma in fashion accessories,now how I became a stylist…,you can’t become something when you already have it in you. From a very young age I had passion for fashion and anything had to do with design.
SJ: What is some key advise that you would give to shoppers?
JI: NEVER but NEVER go for shopping with your friends….when it comes to shopping at that particular moment they are not your friends they your enemies!!! and never trust the sales man who for everything that you gonna try says it’s perfect on you.
SJ: Yes! you are definitely correct when you put it that way. So “Jean” is the man to call next time you go Shopping! In the meantime Jean why don’t you tell me who would be your dream client to work for?
JI: Lady Gaga
SJ: Im sure you’ve just answered almost everyone’s dream client there. Who are you currently working for, anything exciting currently?
JI: Right now I do freelance but I mostly working during photoshoot sets and I also work for clients of mine as a personal shopper.
SJ: Im sure your clients are of a different verity everytime, where do you find your insparation?
JI: I get inspired from the actual clients, I just have to see him or her in person and I can read them instantly.
SJ: Your words definalty mean that you were born to do this! Any favourite designer clothes, accessories right now?
JI: I am in love with Jean Paul Gaultier!!! accessories TONIA K,i love her bags!!!!
SJ: Are there any trends that you dislike?
JI: I hate that now all the “wanna be fashionistas” wearing spikes,studs!! spikes and studs is not just fashion its a life style,its philosophy,you have to know what you are wearing and why!!!
SJ: Im very keen to ask what is YOUR signature look?
JI: Goth Chic
SJ: Where are you favorite places to shop?
JI: My shopping usually begins in the old town of nicosia! you can find amazing things in places you wouldn’t expect to find
SJ: What is your favorite item in your closet?
JI: I love my Jean Paul Gaultier bag and my boots!!!! i love boots!!
SJ: Finally Jean, a topic that has been criticized a lot, on style and size, what is your personal philosophy on this ?
JI: Style has nothing to do with size….clothes are made so we can wear them and not to get worn by them.
